2025 Shingle Bells Winner Recap
Every year, Shingle Bells gives Mr. GoodRoof the chance to do something bigger than roofing. It’s our annual community giveaway created to provide a free roof replacement for a deserving homeowner or family in Middle Tennessee facing real need. What started as a holiday tradition has become one of the most meaningful ways we serve our community.
For 2025, that recipient was Dakota Wiley and his family.
After years of roof leaks, failed repairs, and the financial pressure of trying to keep up with everyday life, Dakota and Elizabeth were selected as this year’s Shingle Bells winners. Elizabeth shared that their roof had been leaking for years, and they weren’t sure how they were going to afford a replacement—especially after she lost her job and Dakota became the sole provider for their family.
The Call That Changed Everything
When Mr. GoodRoof owner Jimmy Hiller called Dakota with the news, the moment said it all.
Dakota became emotional on the phone, explaining how their roof had continued leaking after a previous repair and how much the situation had weighed on them. Jimmy reassured him that they would take care of the roof and told him to keep focusing on his family.
Life Before the Roof
Elizabeth described what life had been like leading up to this moment.
Leaks had been ongoing for years. Water would come into the living room during storms. At times, they had chicken pans in the attic catching water. The family would even go up together—kids holding flashlights—trying to find where the leaks were coming from.
It wasn’t just inconvenient. It was stressful, uncertain, and constant.
A Weight Lifted
On install day, Elizabeth shared what this opportunity meant for their family.
It wasn’t just about fixing a roof. It was about lifting a burden.
With the roof taken care of, they could finally focus on other important needs in their home—like ventilation issues and a broken air unit. More than anything, it gave them peace of mind and a fresh start.
More Than a Giveaway
For the Mr. GoodRoof team, Shingle Bells is about something deeper than the work itself.
Devon explained that the program exists to help families who are doing their best but simply can’t afford a major repair like a roof. It’s about stepping in, removing that burden, and taking care of people the right way.
He described it as one of the main reasons he’s proud to be part of the company—and a true reflection of what it means to be “the good guys in roofing.”
